Developer by training, consultant by habit
I'm Ahmed Muhammed, a Senior Odoo Developer and Technical Consultant based in Alexandria, Egypt, working on ERP implementations for businesses across the Middle East.
My favourite part of the job is the translation step: sitting with the people who run a process, finding where it really breaks, and turning that into rules the ERP enforces — then proving it with tests before anything reaches production.
Day to day that means analysing requirements, auditing existing systems, building custom Odoo modules in Python, integrating external APIs, and deploying and supporting the result on Linux, Docker, Nginx and PostgreSQL. I also write the runbooks, go-live checklists and user manuals — in English and Arabic.
How I work
- Read before I write. Every engagement starts with a read-only audit of the existing system.
- Phases with test gates. A phase isn't finished until its automated tests pass.
- Rehearse on real data. Risky changes run first on a restored, neutralised copy of production.
- Explicit approval. Production changes need a verified backup and a clear go-ahead.
- AI-assisted, human-owned. I use AI coding assistants as part of my workflow. I own the design and the decisions, and every change is reviewed, tested and rehearsed before release.
